the animals are laughing at us

dress: thrift -- cardigan: thrift -- boots: thrift -- belt: thrift

I scored this hilarious/ridiculous/awesome cardigan for $3 while I was thrifting the other day. It's a child's sweater with all kinds of flora and fauna appliqued on it. The back has a hilariously phallic cactus (as so many cacti are...) to match the equally absurd happy sun on the front. In short, I'm obsessed.

I've been really anxious this week for all kinds of reasons, and I can't help but think that my caffeine addiction only exacerbates things. Today I made it until 4:30 without any caffeine, but I had the worst headache ever and caved. At least I only had a cup of jasmine tea! You have to understand, I normally consume about five cups of tea (usually black) and a cup or two of coffee (no cream, no sugar) every day.

Are you a coffee or tea or both kind of person? How bad is your habit? Any caffeine-kicking hints?

Today's title is another Talking Heads song, "Animals." My Talking Heads obsession is pretty out of control. They're not for everyone, but I challenge you to find a band that manages to unite catchiness, intelligence, and complexity with as much skill.

Off to go watch 30 Rock!

This dress is soo gorgeous, I really love it on you. And that cardigan is sooo funny!
I love flavored lattes so much, but because of my heart thing I only drink decaf. And I adore decaf teas. Just wean yourself onto decaf!! It tastes just as good

Oh my goodness, that cardi is AWESOME. I must check the kids section more often.

I've been anxious this week too, perhaps something is in the air. I'm both a coffee and a tea drinker, but no way am I giving either of them up! No coffee after 11am though, that is my only rule.

I love the Talking Heads, I love 30 Rock, I love that RIDICULOUS cardigan and I love tea. I don't drink coffee, I only like the smell and the way it tastes in tiramisu!

I don't have any kind of addiction, teawise. I only drink it when I'm in need of some warmth, or when my throat hurts. I do drink like at least one 1 liter pack of fruitjuice every single day. A girl's gotta drink SOMETHING.

about my fajitas: I don't think I've ever had the chance to eat REAL authentic ones, so I don't really have a point of reference :D there's way more italian/chinese/moroccan/turkish places out here than mexican or anything like that, so the internet is my only cooking friend :( hey, at least as it tastes good, I'm game!

i love this cardigan! think I might have actually had something similar when I was a child...

and I've been very anxious this week too, but this is because of bad weather and my busyness. normally I can't drink coffee, but when I'm very nervous I'll go for anything as long as its strong, sweet and creamy :) a heart attack basically.

Ahh you know I can relate to this haha. I made it 3 days without coffee and caved. I just missed having my cup of coffee in the morning. I love tea and normally drink it throughout the day instead of coffee but I need/want coffee when I first wake up. Caffeine withdrawal headaches are the worst...I could barely see straight! If you really want to cut back, my advice is to start slowly. Try eliminating one cup a day until you get to an amount that you feel good about. Or try decaf? Good luck! I feel your pain. ;)

Ahahah, you win for life now. That sweater is awesome! I love it with the dress too. Without sounding too much like a hipster cliche, its rather ironic :)
As for coffee and tea, I work at a coffee shop and am allowed to pretty much drink as much as I want while on the clock. That should pretty much let you know where I stand.

PS Those paper flowers you liked, some of them my sister just made out of normal tissue paper, but some of them were from a Martha Stewart kit (she got it at TJ Maxx).

Every time I read one of your posts I find out we're even more similar than I thought. I mean, crazy cacti cardi, Talking Heads, caffeine addictions, 30 Rock- all in one post?

One might thing a sweater of that caliber might be hard to pull off, but you've got this one in the bag. It is the coolest. I love how you're wearing cowboy boots with it. I'm wearing cowboy boots! ^_^

So. caffeine addictions. I have one REAL bad. If I don't have caffeine I have a screaming headache before noon. I'm a tea & coffee person but I drink way more coffee. Tea's more like an afternoon treat while strong black coffee is the fuel that keeps me running. I have like a million cups a day. It is SO bad for me but I can't stop!!!

That is such a delightfully tacky cardigan! Some poor kid is probably realizing what he/she had, but now it's all yours!

Just over a year ago I became a regular coffee drinker. Nothing crazy. Just one cup in the morning. When I would consciously not drink a cup, then I would get headaches. But when I just forgot about drinking, I would feel great all day.
I would suggest just slowly drinking less and less, which it sounds like you're already doing. I imagine quitting cold turkey would be the terrible and painful route, so don't do it. haha

Girl I totally feel you on the coffee tip. Except for the trying to kick it part. I don't see any reason to do so myself, and since I quit smoking back in the day I need some kind of vice! Basically coffee is the reason I get up in the morning, but now you got me craving some nice black tea...mmmm.

I love your wacky cardigan, and the fact that you've posted this week! You had me scared for a few days....

And thanks for your Oh So Sweet comment...it made my day!

Love the dress and the cardi doesn't look like it's for kids.

I'm a caffeine addict! I can drink 4 cups in a span of 9 hours which is also the equivalent time of my shift at work. I just love drinking coffee although I know it's not healthy.

I love the cardigan! You see them around, but I've never seen an affordable one that would fit me, so good job in those. I'm pretty sure I used to have one when I was three or four!

I know exactly what you mean with caffeine addiction. I'll drink coffee if I'm out sometimes, but mainly it's my 4-7 cups of tea. I also tried to go without for a couple of days some years ago, but by the afternoon of the first day I had such a headache and was so grumpy that my mom insisted I have one! (an addict herself).

I have to say though, I drink less when I'm in other countries (erm, except England). I basically stopped in Barcelona because the water is so nasty and electric kettles are few and far between. I did kind of pick up a coffee habit to replace it, but not to the same degree.

Anyway, sorry for the novel, back to the outfit: A+!

what a fantastic sweater! the more absurd something is, the better i always say! i have an extreme tea addiction. caffeine doesn't do anything for me so i drink it all the way up until i have to go to bed and i sleep well still.
