are you ready boots? start walking.

skirt: thrift -- shirt: gap clearance -- scarf: thrift -- coat: thrift -- tights: TJ Maxx -- boots: thrift -- hat: San Diego Hat Co.

Since I knew Alex and I were going to hang out today, I resolved to base my outfit on the hat you see me wearing. He bought it for me last year, but I just haven't worn it that many times. It's a bit difficult to match (I have a bit of a matching neurosis) since it's tan, brown, white, red. I feel awkward wearing it with anything black, and I always feel self-conscious since it's such a statement piece. Well, for me, anyway. That said, I love it, and it's quite well-made.

Anyway, I floral-ed it up in the outfit and hoped it would be a nice complement to the hat. I honestly wish that I'd worn different shoes with this look, but I've worn these tights with these boots so many times that they're all raggedy and messed up. In order to hide that, I put the boots back on.Very productive of me, no?

I need to get some new boots. I've worn these ones to death, and resoling them would be more expensive than just buying some new (old) ones. I've had these since senior year of high school. I swear that every time I wear them, someone sings "These Boots Were Made for Walking" to me. That's fine by me since I love that song (and the guy who wrote it, Lee Hazlewood). Check out this awesome promo video for the song.

Love those fuzzy sweaters! I scored some awesome thrifted pieces today, and I can't wait to style them and show them to you all :)

I love this outfit! I love all the different prints. I wouldn't necessarily think of pairing a hat like that with florals but it works so well! Also, I love your boots. I have an ole pair like that and I can't bare to part with them, even though they're quite worn.

Also, I can't watch that video now cuz it will take a millions hours to load with my internet connection from hell, but I will def check it out later. That song is awesome.

Love the outfit, and the hat is gorgeous. It can be difficult to pair something like that if it is outsife of your usual colour range - I agree it might not be right worn with black. It goes well with the muted grey blue though, and of course if you have anything in camel, tweed, cream or red it will match those too :)

You look great!
You most definitely did the hat justice. 'Tis a wonderful hat, by the way. :)

I wouldn't worry too much about "matching" the hat since it already matches amazingly with your eyes and hair. This outfit is so cute. You look cozy and warm while still wearing lacy tights, which is definitely saying something!

You look so cute in this hat! I have a hard time feeling okay in hats since I cut all my hair off, plus it's been too hot here for hats anyway. But I think I will go forth bravely from now on using you as inspiration!

You're a marble, Sophi. Great hat (and yes, with those eyes and hair a perfect match), great outfit, and great video. Nancy Sinatra was almost a one-hit-wonder, but this "promo" is classic 60s. I was very concerned about the minidresses at first but then it became clear they were wearing matching undies. THERE's a look!

Oh the tights are so cute! It's so sad when tights get eaten up by shoes.
